The Junior Orthodox Youth (JOY) group of our Cathedral is a wonderful program for children in grades 3-6 (ages 7-12). The Hellenic Orthodox Primary Education (HOPE) group is open to children in grades kindergarten through 2nd grade. The JOY&HOPE group meet together once a month, on Friday evening, for 1 1/2 hours. Currently, we have 25 children registered in our program, but are looking to grow! The goal of this ministry is to help our youth grow closer to Jesus Christ.
The JOY& HOPE meeting is an opportunity to participate in fellowship with peers and adult advisors who offer guidance in experiencing and exploring the Orthodox Faith. Meetings are conducted in an informal, relaxed atmosphere that brings the youth of Saint Spyridon together in a fun and educational way. We begin each meeting with a prayer and lesson provided by Father Dimitri or our pastoral assistant Nicholas Livingston. Usually snacks and refreshments are offered and a craft or activity that coordinates with the theme of the night. Besides regular meetings, we offer seasonal activities, field trips and opportunities to give back to the community through charity projects.
Please join the JOY&HOPE group at our next meeting. If you would like more information, please contact Ana Coulouras (508-887-1828) or Colleen Giourelis (508-801-9705).
